A night on the town!

What better place to pick for a night out on the town than the Kordon seaside promenade with all its restaurants, bars and cafes concentrated on this 1.5 Kms stretch (And I know the length of this strip cause on the opposite side next to the sea, is the running track that I frequent every morning).

Some of these places seem to be housed in older and more traditional two or three story buildings and others in more modern buildings; with all the restaurants and bars on the lower level spilling out onto the sidewalk.

As you walk down, past each of them you’ll notice how cosmopolitan Izmir really is because every place has a different cuisine and variety here is humongous! Plus this certainly is a very sociable city as people are extremely friendly and seem to enjoy going out quite a bit.

We decided to go down to Equador where they have a salsa night every Thursday. So, as with any night out we order Nachos, French fries, make sure we have a drink in our hand and head out onto the dance floor. After a bit of that we decided to sit back and watch the professionals dance; and professionals they were indeed.

This area is a great place to pub hop cause you can literally fall into the next bar! So, from the salsa place, a quick stop by a sports bar to support Fenerbahçe (Yes, I’ve been persuaded that’s the best football team as Sirri and Seda are big fans). And, to prove support worthy, they even won 4-2 last night.

And then it’s time for more dancing and a few more rounds of beer and Raki!
